New Fortnite Update: What’s in today’s update v2.88 September 25th

There’s a new Fortnite update today (v2.88) and here’s what new in the update for PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Android.

Just this week, Epic Games released a major new Fortnite update which introduced Wolverine as a brand new boss. You’ll find him deep in Weeping Woods wondering around or in Slurpy Swamp.

A new norm for Epic is to add brand new secret missions/challenges for players to complete which are always added in a major patch update. In Wednesday’s v14.20 update, there were a total of 3 new secret challenges/quests for players to complete which combines to provide players with 67,500 season 4 XP.

Epic announced on the Fortnite Status Twitter that there’s a brand new Fortnite update today for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Android. Here’s what you need to know.

New Fortnite Update

File size

The file size might vary slightly from player to player, but expect a 1.4 GB file size on PS4 and 305 MB on PC. We’ll update this when we know the size on the other platforms.

What’s new in today’s Fortnite Update?

There’s some bad news. There’s no new content or any files for data-miners to leak in today’s new Fortnite update. It’s a maintenance patch for every platform and it includes a Party Royale visual fix, it re-enables the HUG scale option that was accidentally removed for both console and PC, and NVIDIA Reflex has been made available for PC drivers.

Although there’s nothing new in the update today, we’re still waiting on Fortnite’s 3rd birthday event to go live. Epic confirmed the upcoming event in an email to everyone in the support-a-creator program.

Epic stated that the event will go live on the weekend and it’ll provide players with the chance to gain more XP, earn free Fortnite rewards like a wrap and back bling, and heal themselves for Fortnite birthday cakes scattered around the Fortnite map.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 Week 5 XP Coin Locations (Gold, Purple, Blue & Green Coins)

The locations of all the Fortnite season 4 week 5 XP coins locations including all the gold, purple, blue, and green coins on the map.

The Fortnite week 5 challenges just released at the normal time with seven brand new challenges for players to complete. Six of the challenges provide players with 25,000 XP each whilst the team challenge, which requires players to destroy a gorger, provides players with a massive 50,000 XP.

There’s also a new Wolverine challenge which requires players to locate a Trask Transport Truck on the map. Not only that, but in yesterday’s v14.20 Fortnite update, Epic Games added three brand new Fortnite secret challenges / quests / missions that provide players with another way to get more XP in season 4.

We’ve actually covered the new secret Fortnite challenges with guides. One requires players to disable gnome traps which will provide players with 25,000 XP for completing the challenge and 2,500 XP for each trap that’s been disabled.

Fortnite Gnome Traps Secret Mission – Free XP

There’s also the Aftermath and The Lair secret challenges/missions that will provide 20,000 XP each. Completing all three will provide you with 67,500 XP and won’t take more than 5 or 10 minutes of your time.

We also have the XP coins and we have a brand new set of XP coins for Fortnite season 4 Week 5.

All Fortnite Week 5 XP Coins

The very first gold XP coin was added in week 3. There was another one last week and there’s another one in week 5 too. For the Fortnite week 5 xp coins, there’s two purple coins, 3 blue coins, 4 green xp coins, and one gold xp coin.

As usual, when touching the purple coins, they’ll break off into smaller coins and you’ll need to collect them all before they disappear. The best way to collect them all is boxing yourself in with the coin before touching it. That way, all the smaller coins will be in the box and you’ll be able to quickly collect them all.

As usual with the blue coins, you’ll need to break objects in order to see and collect them. For the week 5 xp coins, you’ll need to destroy a suitcase, a box, and a gnome. The Gold XP coin for week 5 is located east of Coral Cove. It’s in the Trask Transport truck as shown below:

Fortnite: How to Drive a car from Slurpy Swamp to Catty Corner in less than 4 minutes without getting out

One of the week 5 Fortnite challenges requires players to drive a car from Slurpy Swamp to Catty Corner in less than 4 minutes without getting out. Here’s the best and fastest way to do it.

The Fortnite week 5 challenges are live and one of the challenges requires you to drive from Slurpy Swamp to Catty Corner without getting out in less than 4 minutes. Epic have done a similar challenge this season when players needed to drive from Retail Row to Pleasant Park.

The challenge shouldn’t be too hard to complete, but we’ve created a guide with some tips if you struggling to complete it.

Fortnite drive from Slurpy Swamp to Catty Corner route

To start of with, you’ll want to grab yourself a car and fuel just in case the car that spawns doesn’t have much fuel. There’s a gas station north of Slurpy Swamp that will have a car there along with gas cans.

At the back of the gas station by the metal fence, you should see one or two fuel cans on the floor outside. You can also just fuel the car up at the gas station if you wish. The car that spawns there will be random. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a Whiplash which will allow you to complete this challenge as quickly as possible, but any car will do as you have 4 minutes.

From the gas station drive into Slurpy Swamp and take this route in order to drive to Catty Corner in less than 4 minutes without getting out. You’ll know you’ve started the challenge as you’ll see a “challenge event started” notification as you drive out of Slurpy Swamps.

This challenge should only take you around 2 minutes in a slow car. You should have around 50% fuel left when you complete this challenge, but remember to not get out of the car at any point during the challenge or else you’ll have to go back to Slurpy Swamp and start again.

Fortnite Gorgers: How and Where to Destroy Gorgers

Here’s everything you need to know about Gorgers and how to destroy them.

In the v14.10 Fortnite update two weeks ago, Epic Games added in Stark Industries as well as Galactus Drones. These Galactus Drones are called Gorgers and can be found in random places around the map.

Last week, players were required to destroy gatherers or use their remains, and for the week 5 challenges, players need to destroy just one gorger to complete the challenge. The good news is that this is a team challenge and will reward players with 50,000 season XP.

Here’s everything you need to know about Gorgers in Fortnite in order to complete the week 5 team challenge.

Fortnite Gorgers

What are Gorgers in Fortnite?

Gorgers are black and red Galactus drones that were added to the game in the v14.10 update. They drop good loot as a reward for destroying them.

Where to find a Gorger (Fortnite spawn locations)

There are no set spawn locations where you’ll find a Gorger, but you can pull your glider as soon as you jump out of the Battle Bus and look for the red beam that you can see from across the map that indicates at Gorger has spawned at that location as seen below.

gorger spawn red beam light Fortnite
gorger spawn red beam light Fortnite

Alternatively, you can try and get a helicopter and keep flying around until you manage to find a Gorger.

How to destroy a Gorger

There seems to be false information going around that you can’t destroy a Gorger with a normal weapon. You can hit the yellow highlighted spots on a Gorger in order to inflict damage on them.

The week spots are the eye and the yellow parts at the bottom of the gorger which are always yellow unlike the eye.

The easiest and fastest way to destroy a gorger is to wait until it spawns the gatherers and destroy them. Eventually there’s be a gatherer you’ll see on the floor that you can pick up and use as a weapon.

It’ll have unlimited ammo and will deal 37 damage to a gorger no matter where you hit it. It should only take 20 or 30 seconds to destroy a gorger if you keep shooting it with a gatherers remains.

Fortnite: How to Make a Stark Robot dance

Here’s the location of Stark Robots and how to make them dance for the week 5 Fortnite challenge.

In the v14.10 Fortnite update, Epic Games added Stark Industries to replace Frenzy Farm. With the addition of the new location, Iron Man was added as a boss along with more Stark robots in Stark industry buildings.

You can also find Stark Robots are the Quinjet Patrol site locations and for one of the week 5 challenges, players will need to make a Stark Robot dance. Here’s how you can go about completing the challenge as quickly as possible.

Quinjet Patrol Fortnite
Quinjet Patrol Fortnite

Make A Stark Robot Dance Fortnite

Your best bet to complete this challenge would probably be to land at a Quinjet Patrol Site in order to have a better chance of completing the challenge quickly. If you land at Stark Industries, you’ll be landing with a bunch of people and you’ll have a higher chance of being eliminated.

There are two different ways in which you make make a Stark Robot dance in Fortnite. The first option is to down at Stark Robot and then hack them by going close to them and pressing whatever your interact button is.

Once you’ve hacked one, you need to be in front of the Stark Robot with it facing towards you. Simply emote and you’ll make a Stark Robot dance. You only need to do this once in order to complete the challenge and earn 25,000 season XP.

The other option is to get a Boogie Bomb and throw it at a Stark Robot. It’s definitely a quicker method if you manage to find a Boogie Bomb, but it seems like sometimes even when you throw it directly at the robot, it still won’t dance.

Either way, this is a pretty quick and easy challenge for players to complete and if you use the first method, you have an ally to help you distract or deal damage to enemies.
