Here’s everything you need to know about the Free Fortnite Cup including when it starts, the free Fortnite apple skin reward, the scoring system, and more.
Everyone’s aware of the current dispute between Apple and Epic Games. Earlier in the week, Epic announced that they’ll be holding the Free Fortnite Cup today, August 23rd. As you’d expect, Epic have done this to bring even more coverage to the ongoing battle between the two billion dollar companies.
There’s a bunch of different rewards for players to get their hands on during the Free Fortnite Cup, and here’s everything you need to know about today’s tournament.
What time does the free Fortnite cup start?
When a new Fortnite cup is available for players to complete, everyone rushes to find out when it’ll start on the day. The Free Fortnite Cup will start at the following times:
- Oceania – 3-7pm Sydney time
- Europe – 2-6pm UK, 3-7pm Central European Time
- NA-East – 3-7pm Eastern Time
- NA-West 3-7pm California time
Do you need 2FA to enter the Free Fortnite Cup?
For every tournament, Epic make clear in the blog post announcing the tournament that players need to enable 2FA in order to enter the cup or tournament. This tournament is no different. Players WILL need to enable 2FA in order to enter today’s cup.
Who can enter the cup? (Eligible players)
It’s important to note that you need to be 13 years or older to enter the cup. If you’re under the age of 18, you need permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Unfortunately, you’ll also need to be ranked in the Open League (division 1, 2, or 3) or higher within Arena in the region you play the Free Fortnite cup in order to be eligible to participate. You’ll need to be ranked before the start times listed above.
Scoring System
Each victory royale provides players with 10 points, each elimination is worth 1 point, and every 3 minutes you survive in a match, you’ll receive 1 point.
Players have 4 hours or a maximum of 12 games to get as many points as they can during the event.
Funnily enough, Epic have decided to reward players that manage to eat the most apples in a session and a single match. Players will win gaming hardware for being the top x players to eat as many apples as they can. This differs from region to region, but we’ll break that down below.
Free Fortnite Rewards
Fortnite Apple Skin (Tart Tycoon outfit)
The Fortnite skin that was featured in the Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite short film will be up for grabs during this cup. In order to get it, players just need 10 points. That shouldn’t be too difficult based on how you get points in this tournament.
Now we have the free Fortnite skin out of the way, let’s look at the other rewards. Players can earn any of these items:
- Alienware Gaming Laptop®
- Samsung Galaxy Tab S7®
- OnePlus 8®
- PlayStation 4 Pro®
- Xbox One X®
- Nintendo Switch®
You can win the above gaming hardware by eating the most apples during one match or the entire cup. Players can also win the #FreeFortnite swag hat based on where they can finish in the cup. Here’s the full breakdown:
